Our Volunteers/Ezgi ALKAYA
15-22 October (first week) This is the first week of our project. We arrived in Craiova late in the evening. We called Alexandra and she came to took us from the train station. It was the first time we met with her face to face. It was exciting. We ate pizzas and she told about the house. When we arrived home, there was no other people but we learned that there will be. Firstly, we cleaned the house, settled. In the next days, Alex showed us the city, we did shopping for our needs together. We learned about the city. Adina came to house to tell about the rules and showed us some important work. We met with Dorina. We took some street posters to stick on the doors. It was good to see around and learned the streets of the city. In our free time we are trying to spend our time efficiently, visiting museums and parks.
22-29 October
In the second week, we helped for the Erasmus+ project of Adina. Before people arrive we helped the organization with washing the dishes, doing the planning of the rooms, buying the general needs of the rooms. We joined a part of the first day and met with new people from other countries. After that we had to leave. We continued sticking the posters around. In Romania, the pandemic situation is getting serious everyday. As we heard, there will be some restrictions. Hopefully, we can travel and join the social life in Romania.
29-5 November
This week we started work in Smart School Center. Unfortunately, the school is not crowded because of Covid-19. But we met with Corina, Mada, Elena and Nico and a few kids. I hope there will be other kids soon. For the next days we prepared some activities, workshops, games for the children that will come soon. We cleaned the school and the garden and organized stuff. We played with children. There was a birthday party for one of them. We did different activities for Halloween.
5-12 November The number of the children is increasing. We played with them. We drew together. We read books in English. They also teach Romanian words to us. We made some decorations and prepared for activities. We did a presentation about Turkey to the children. They were interested in Turkey which was happy. We went to the Botanical Park and had fun with children. As volunteers we are doing the housework and getting well with eachother. We are done with the posters.
12-19 November This week we were travelling using our free days. And in the other days of the week, we were at Smart School doing the same activities with children, cleaning work and stuff. Sometimes the school gets very crowded now that makes us happy. We help children at classes and teach them.
19-26 November We were at school all week. We did the daily things all the week like welcoming children, helping them with their needs. We joined the classes, helped the children and teachers. Alexandra drove us to Orşova and we had fun together which is nice. And at school we joined the Thanksgiving night and ate and dance a lot. Sharing those moments felt happy.
26-3 December Christmas is coming so we prepared different activities, crafts and games for children to do on Christmas time. We decorated the art class with Christmas stuff that we prepared and had fun. It was the birthday of Romania this week. We met at the house, ate traditional food and, listened traditional music, danced a lot celebrating it. We kept doing the daily activities and works at school.
